Fuji Gotemba
Fuji-Gotemba Distillery, a Japanese whisky distillery located in the Gotemba city where is nearby the icon of Japan, Mont Fuji. Fuji-Gotemba Distillery is situated in the highland environment where is over 610 meters above the sea level with Scotland alike cool climate and low humidity. It is an ideal place for making and ageing whisky indeed.
Gotemba Distillery was established in 1972 and changed the present name to Fuji-Gotemba Distillery in 2002. Fuji-Gotemba Distillery is now owned by Kirin group, one of the beverage giants in Japan. Though Fuji-Gotemba is not likely famous in International market as to Nikka and Suntory, its position in Japanese whisky industry is very important. Fuji-Gotemba produces both malt and grain whiskies. Fuji-Gotemba has separate still plant rooms for productions of single malt and grain whisky respectively. In additions, Fuji-Gotemba has their own bottling plant and cooperage.
Most Fuji-Gotemba outputs go for blended whiskies. Only very few selected barrels will be bottled as single malt whiskies. The standard bottlings of Fuji-Gotemba single malts are unusually starting from small batch 17 years old and 25 years line-up the series. There are some other special limited bottlings such as 27 years flagship and single grain whisky which are even rare.
